HIGHLAND PARK, Ill.–After night one, coach Steve Wolf’s third season at the helm for the Lake Forest Scouts looks to be a lot like his first. In his first year as LFHS Head Coach in 2015-16, the Scouts had one of their best season’s in recent memory. That team, led by Mason Moore and then freshman Kevin Lamp, had one of their best seasons since their 28-8 season and 2nd overall finish at the IHSA State Finals in 2002. Last year, however, the Scouts were up and down, as perhaps youth caught up with them down the stretch. Still, the Scouts haven’t earned a boys volleyball Regional title since 2008, and this year’s Scouts are poised for the challenge.

In their first game of the season against Highland Park, the Scouts made quick of the home team, ousting them in straight games, 25-20 and 25-19. The Scouts were led by Kevin Lamp and setter Justin McCartney, who provided a one-two punch that was difficult for the Giants to contain. Other notable performances included outside hitter Joe Chamberlain and middle blocker Kyle Waggoner, who worked the front line as senior Jake Danneker patrolled the back row as libero.

Look for the Scouts to continue their winning ways tomorrow against Carmel in their East Campus home opener.
