“My inspiration for this painting came from my family history. A large portion of my family has entered the military and we have experienced many losses. As a nation, America has had hundreds of thousands of fatalities and not all of them have been recognized. Through this painting, I wanted to honor those not only lost by our nation, but the world as a whole. Though some have been forgotten on the ground where they fell, I feel that we must honor all of our veterans whether they are with us or gone. I wanted this painting to be a reminder to our country to remember all of our troops on this upcoming holiday.” -Maria Tsarik
