Two  years ago, a very strong class of athletes graduated from LFHS with many individuals continuing their athletic career at the college level. Amongst them, a special talent on  the LFHS varsity basketball team, Alex Forowycz, committed to playing basketball at Lake Forest College and has been pushing the limits even further ever since then.

After a freshman year at LFC where he was still developing as a player, , Forowycz’s sophomore year showed his true potential as a Forester. Averaging 17.4 points, he is already a key role in the team’s success, with two more years ahead of him to show even more growth.

“I’m really proud of him,” former teammate and  LFHS Alumni Anthony Mordini said. “It came to no surprise that he is doing as well as he is, but it is really impressive he is doing as well as he is at an even higher competitive level.”

Not only has he been working on his own future at Lake Forest College, he has also left his footprint on the LFHS basketball team.

“He really taught me a lot and picked my head up,” junior on the LFHS Basketball Team Charlie Engelberg said. “Even though I was only a freshmen, he made sure to give me advice on the mental and physical aspect of the game during the short time I had with him.”

During his freshman year, Forowycz was given 12.6 minutes on the court every game. Once sophomore year came along, the coaches understood who he was and his role on the team, and as a result he averaged  32.3 minutes every game. He took advantage of this opportunity, scoring five times as many points this season.

“Basketball at the college level was definitely a big adjustment for me,” Forowycz said. “There are some good athletes here, but I know I am capable of doing anything they can do and more.”

Forowycz’s dedication and hard work are paying off, and his journey is far from over. With two more years to hone his skills and lead his team, the future looks bright for this talented athlete. His story is an inspiration to current LFHS students, demonstrating that with perseverance and determination, great achievements are within reach.
