2023 Decision Day

2023 Decision Day

With college decisions due May 1, it has become known as the day for seniors to announce their future plans. The iconic decision day is a day for seniors to show off their plans for next year by wearing their college merchandise. It’s an opportunity to learn more about your classmates and get to celebrate the senior class.

“Something fun to see was the decisions people made at the last minute. My friend, Jocum, didn’t mention where he had ended up committing to out of all his choices, and I found out when he came into study hall with the sweatshirt on,” said senior Mateo Morrone.

The day allows you to not only announce or even surprise your classmates where you are headed next year as well as get to see everyone else’s decisions.

“There are many people I’ve been going to school with my whole life, but I didn’t know where they were going to college. It’s really emotional and surreal to see where people are going. We kind of hit a point where all seniors have come together,” said senior Rylan Stark.

Decision day is not only a day for students to celebrate but staff members too.

“Decision day for me is so rewarding. I get to watch the seniors come in and put the hard work in all year; decision day is like the big reveal,” said Mrs. Laurie Hektor.

Since May 1st falls during AP testing, decision day gives seniors a feeling of relief.

“Decision day took a weight off my shoulders,” said senior Pride Haggerty. “Especially when stressing about AP tests, it’s a reminder that my hard work has paid off.”

Starting freshman year, all the underclassmen get to see the seniors show off their college shirts proudly. Decision day is also a reminder for the younger classes to keep working hard because soon enough, they will wear their college shirts too.

“It’s crazy that we are finally the ones that get to wear our college t-shirts. I feel like I was just an underclassman seeing all the seniors’ photos in front of the front door in their college t-shirts,” said senior Chloe Robb.
