The Dish: Pizzeria Deville

Season 3, Episode 4

Luke Davis and Wilson Irvin

When looking for a good, woodfire pizza, one should venture to Pizzeria Deville. Located in the heart of downtown Libertyville and only 20 minutes from the high school, Pizzeria Deville is just off of 176 and sits on N Milwaukee Avenue. Pizzeria Deville has a wide range of pizzas to choose from, as well as a wide variety in “starters” and salads. Not to mention, in the summers Pizzeria Deville serves their pizzas in uptown Lake Bluff and serves breakfast pizzas on Sunday mornings. Pizzeria Deville serves some of the best pizza around here, and it is a “must try” restaurant.

Atmosphere: 8/10

When walking into Pizzeria Deville, the first thing we noticed was the big shelf holding pizza boxes and wood for the woodfire oven. Hanging on the walls were old and rusty signs of America, which signified a theme of “old America.” To go along with the decorations on the walls, there was a TV hanging above the bar area for the adults. To wrap the atmosphere together, there was soft alternative music playing overhead which upped the atmosphere rating. Pizzeria Deville had a very calm and laid back environment, which helped earn them a solid 8 out of 10 for the atmosphere.

Service: 9/10

When greeted early at the door, we knew that the service would be a specialty. Our waiter was super friendly and gave up his recommendations on the menu, in which we took his advice with the “Pepperoni Due” pizza. Not only that, our pizzas were served ten minutes after they were ordered. For brick fire pizza, that’s on the quicker side, and it didn’t affect the quality at all. By such great service, this gives Pizzeria Deville a 9 out of 10 in our eyes.

Food Quality: 9.5/10

This might be the best pizza in the north shore. Everything in their kitchen is homemade and is amazing. The crust wasn’t burnt but barley, the sauce, and cheese complemented each other perfectly, and the basil and cheese were a perfect mix. On the Pepperoni Due pizza, with three different types of pepperoni, it gave the pizza different spicy flavors, and all topped with hot honey, it gave it a sweet flavor that is unbeatable. We will say it again, this might be the best pizza in the north shore, earning it an amazing 9.5 out of 10.

Affordability: 8/10

When attending Pizzeria Deville, one might consider going with someone else or a party of people. The reason being, the pizza’s are meant for more than just one person. With a normal, Margarita pizza costing $14, if one were to split it, it would be only seven dollars, which is a lot better than before. So for a total bill for two people, getting two pizzas around $40 seems quite expensive, when in reality, it isn’t that expensive. This earned it a relatively good 8 out of 10.

Overall: 4.3 out of 5 spears
