Rosa Take 3rd in State as Track Team Wraps up Season
May 28, 2019
The Lake Forest Track and Field team had an extremely successful season, sending the whole 4x200m team to State which included freshman Jahari Scott, and seniors Kean O’Connor, Tyler Trachsel, and Jonathon Phalen, along with distance runner Ben Rosa for the 1600m. The adventure out to Eastern Illinois University began on Thursday, May 23rd as the athletes and their coaches were getting ready to prepare to compete for a state title.
Three seniors ended their high school careers on Friday which was the first day of competition as the 4x200m team was eliminated after an excellent season, and the program is losing three highly valued seniors, but their mark has forever been left on the Track and Field program.
Ben Rosa, who ran the 1600m at State, ran a 4:20.18 in the final qualifiers and made the cut, and went onto run a 4:18.38 and place third in the state of Illinois. Ben Rosa is a junior and still has one more year to go and big things are still to come from this incredible athlete. Jahari Scott, a member of the 4x200m team, has three years left and the sky’s the limit for him as well as there will be some special moments for next year’s track season at LFHS.
2019 was a special year for LFHS Track and Field, and there is much more where that came from.
