  1. How did you begin playing field hockey?

My parents are from England and they both played growing up so when they saw it at my middle school they signed me up.

  1. What was your first reaction when you took over the role of the head coach?

Excitement!

  1. How do you think the team grew this year?

This year’s team definitely got better as the season went on, the one area where we saw the most growth was in their style of play. We liked to run a high speed passing offensive and while it took a little while for us find the grove once we did it was really fun to watch.

  1. You had two three year players on the team this year which included Sarah Considine and Madden Plante, how do you plan to fill the void that those two left?

Both Sarah and Madden are irreplaceable, they will be missed more than they realize.  The best thing about both Sarah and Madden is they have prepared the younger players to step up into the role they have played on the team over the last few years.

  1. What were your overall thoughts on the season?

Even though we did not achieve our overall goal of winning another State Championship  I believe we had a great season. We asked a lot of the girls and they rose to the challenge time after time.  I believe the efforts of our players this year will only strengthen our teams resolve for years to come.

  1. What players do you expect to step up next year?

Everyone… we started eight seniors this year so there is room for a lot of new players to take key roles moving forward.  I am really excited about the potential of our underclassmen who were on varsity this year and the JV players looking to transition to the varsity level, we have a great talent pool.

  1. After finishing second in State does your mentality as a coach change?

No. We will look back and change some things to make us more successful next season, especially in areas where we struggled this year.  But our overall focus will not change.

  1. Why do you believe that the field hockey program at this high school has been so successful?

The girls… I would love to take credit, but I am very lucky to work with such an amazing group of girls who put so much time and effort into field hockey.

  1. Any player you would like to shout-out for putting in an exceptional effort this season?

The goalies… Elsa Goldsberry and Heidi Richardson.  It is hard to play goalie; it is one of the most mentally challenging positions on the field,  and even more so when you are the youngest players on the team.
