On Saturday May 19 at 10 a.m., the student body of Lake Forest High School is going to be rallying around a cause. The goal of this dance marathon–the first of its kind in LFHS history– is to raise money to try and help find a cure for Cystic Fibrosis. The day will be filled with fun spirit and good people. There will be three taught dances, one from Mrs. Van Skyock, one from SALSAerobics teacher Ester Sloan, and finally one from the Lake Forest High School Varsity Dance Team.
Aside from the dances, there is a wonderful DJ that is set up for the event. Every team needs to have a member of their team on the floor at all time, and each hour will have a theme with a specific genre of music.
The schedule for the day is as follows: 10-11 a.m. is throwback hour, 11-noon is the salsa lesson, 12-1 p.m. is Ms. V’s line dancing session, 1-2 p.m. is classics hour, 2-3 p.m. is Disney music, 3-4:30 p.m. will feature the LFHS Varsity Dance team, 4:30-5:15 p.m. is a student DJ and 5:15-5:45 p.m. is 80’s music. Although the goal of the event is for the event to be fun, there’s also the hope that it is a successful fundraiser. The three participants that raise the most money will have the opportunity to earn free 4-day Lollapalooza passes. Other prizes that will be raffled off are Cubs tickets, Hamilton tickets, and gift cards.
Each person needs to register for this event. The cost of entry $25 per person. Once registered, you will receive a link to create your donor page. Set it up and starting asking family and friends to help raise money for this great cause. It would be awesome to get a lot of people to attend this event. Put together a team of friends, teammates, clubs or come alone. If you register by Tuesday, May 8 you will be entered into the raffle to earn the last 4-day Lollapalooza ticket. Thanks for your support! Hope everyone can help to make it a great event.
