SKOKIE, Ill.–Despite a loaded Sectional that featured gymnastics powerhouses like New Trier, Glenbrook South, and Carmel, freshman Kristin Fisch has given herself the opportunity to test her Floor Exercise routine with the state’s best gymnasts.
After finishing with a a 9.3, second only to Glenbrook South sophomore Jessica Hartley–who posted a 9.35–Fisch earned her spot as an automatic qualifier after finishing in the top five of her event. The at-large advancers will be notified and posted on the IHSA website no later than next Monday.
The IHSA State Final, which will be hosted at Palatine High School on February 16-17, is the premiere high school gymnastics meet of its kind, featuring only teams and individuals who have qualified based on their scores in the IHSA Regionals and Sectionals.
Kristin Fisch, who will attempt to match–or even best–the 2nd place finish (9.75) in the Floor Exercise by Kylie Carlson in 2011, is certainly up to the task. Carlson was also 3rd in 2012 and 2013. Keep an eye out for Kristin Fisch atop the leaderboards come February 16.
