LAKE FOREST, Ill.–The Lake Forest varsity girls basketball is certainly on the fast track to a successful playoff run. The Scouts (17-7) swept the competition in this weekend’s Dr. Martin Luther King Day Holiday Tournament, taking down Palatine, Deerfield, Buffalo Grove, and Lakes Community along the way.
The Scouts now return to NSC play as they host Waukegan on Friday. Halle Douglass is the only Scouts player averaging double figures with 10.9 PPG while Ellie Pearson’s 8.0 is good for second on the team. Still, freshman Lily Trkla and sophomore Honor Thomas could be coming on strong for the Scouts as they each scored in double figures in their last game. Perhaps the Scouts’ best attribute at this point in the season is their depth. Of course, Halle Douglass is the engine for the Scouts and Ellie Pearson has solidified herself as a reputable number two, but additional offensive firepower from Grace Tirzmalis, Olivia Douglass, and Jen Whittington has made the Scouts 9-1 in their last ten games.
