SMU
The style often seen at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas, better known as SMU, is a bit higher-end and more expensive than other schools. The southern feel of the school leads to a more traditional way of dressing. On Saturdays, the girls at SMU can often be seen in a dress or skirt and shirt with wedges. Guys usually wear a polo and khaki shorts. The warmer weather in Dallas also has an impact on the feel of the campus fashion-wise. The day-to-day style is also a bit nicer than other schools with the girls in shorts and trendy shirts when going to class. The overall feel of SMU is a bit preppier than most, but girls that go there end up loving the fast paced feel of SMU style.
Colorado-Boulder
University of Colorado at Boulder has a much more casual feel when it comes to their style. This school is located in the center of the mountains so there is a lot of casual mountaineer style going on at this school. However, on the weekends, they can be seen in more fun and trendy styles. On any given day going to class, the style is quite casual but that definitely doesn’t mean anyone looks like unkempt. I’ve noticed the girls at Boulder tend to be more laid back and confident in their own skin, so you can see a variety of looks at any given time. The climate in Colorado also affects the style; it can get snowy pretty early and this forces people to bundle up earlier than in LF. The overall feel of CU-Boulder’s style is much more laid back but still quite stylish, especially during the spring semester.
Indiana
Indiana University is also a more casual college regarding style. The overall feel of the look here is midwestern, which is quite similar to the feel of LF, without the preppiness. Indiana students often get quite into the sports on campus, so IU gear is very popular around campus, especially on game days. This attire can range anywhere from leggings and a sweatshirt to class or trendy red and white outfits for football or basketball games. While going out, they definitely wear cute outfits, but they are slightly more casual than the aforementioned SMU and CU. Indiana also has a very strong Greek life presence, so girls will have formals where they need to wear nicer cocktail dresses. This campus is similar to Boulder in the fact that it gets colder in the winter, which influences styles, but overall, the look of IU can be described as a casual midwestern.
Alabama
The University of Alabama, another southern school, follows similar style cues as SMU. On the weekends, girls at Alabama can often be seen in nicer outfits–like dresses–with the traditional southern charm of Alabama: cowboy boots. Another favorite of the girls in Alabama is shark tooth necklaces that they can wear any day. When it comes to daily style, the crowd at Alabama often tends to go with t-shirt and shorts, however, at a much higher end than other school. That can especially be seen in their style on the weekends.
Dayton
The University of Dayton, much like IU, has a laid back style. Day-to-day looks for class are often quite casual, with sweatshirts and leggings (and overall athleisure) being very prominent. On the weekends at dayton, you can find two different types of style. On Saturdays during the day, students tend to go out in the student neighborhood in fun, festive clothing. These outfits range from jerseys to funny shirts with slogans and are often seen on both boys and girls. However, the style seen at night in Dayton is a bit nicer with trendy fun styles and a touch of that midwestern casual style that is popular at Indiana.
Arizona
The climate found on the University of Arizona campus is a major influencer on what the students wear on a daily basis. When going to class, students are usually in shorts and a t-shirt, or exercise shorts and a sweatshirt, but it’s usually quite casual. On the weekends, the students usually have pool parties or are generally outdoors, so a common look is just a swimsuit. Other times, like during games, students get pretty into the U of A gear, but it’s still not a lot of clothing due to the excessive heat in Arizona.
Wake Forest
Wake Forest is one of the schools closest in style to that of Lake Forest. The style of Wake Forest is preppy overall, much like Lake Forest, while still having some of the style of a traditional college campus. When going to class, students can be found in casual looks like on any other campus, but on the weekends the looks are more high end that leads to a more preppy vibe in Winston Salem. Especially on game days, students can be found in much nicer outfits than other schools. The boys tend to wear chinos and a t-shirt or a polo. The girls usually wear Deacons gear and a skirt, blouse or sweater. All together, the feel of the style at Wake Forest is casual preppy.
