Avery Robbins, a freshman at Xavier Univeristy in Cincinnati, Ohio, recently was added to the men’s basketball roster as a manager for the 2017-18 season. After a two-year career as a player at Lake Forest on the freshman and sophomore teams, Robbins, a class of 2017 graduate, served Coach Phil LaScala and the varsity Scouts as a manager.
A true master at his craft, Robbins was well-known by Lake Forest High School fans for his spirited participation in the game, and was voted by his teammates as the team’s MVP for the 2016-17 season along with co-manager Jackson Douglass.
The Xavier Musketeers are led by head coach Chris Mack and they participate as members of the Big East Conference, one of the best collegiate basketball leagues in the country. The Musketeers officially began practice yesterday. They begin their game schedule with three exhibition games at the Cintas Center on Xavier’s campus against Thomas More College, Morehead State, and Rider University. The Musketeers travel all across the country on their regular season schedule, but will travel close to Lake Forest on March 3rd when they face DePaul in the last game of the season. Other relatively local games include a trip to Madison, Wisconsin to face off against the Wisconsin Badgers and a trip to Milwaukee to play Marquette University.
Robbins, one of six freshman managers to acquire the position, will join a veteran staff of managers eager to help serve the Musketeers in their attempt to become one of the better teams in the country in 2017-18.
