While there are many fun things going on here at Lake Forest High School in the fall, it is also a very important time to be serious. For seniors, it is college application season. This means that many of us are editing essays, filling out forms, and trying to squeeze in one last ACT or SAT. That being said, It may be hard for some to actually plan a college visit, especially if the schools you are interested in are halfway across the country.
Lake Forest High School is here to help. As of right now, various colleges and universities are scheduled to come to LFHS until November. These visits are extremely helpful and beneficial for all students. While it is important for seniors to see the schools they are applying to, it can also be helpful for juniors to start planning ahead and get a jumpstart on college decisions. At these meetings you have the opportunity to meet with a representative for the school that works specifically with students from the midwest area. They are a great source of information to hear about the school and figure out if this could be somewhere you’re interested in.
Most meetings are held in the College Resource Center, but some could be scheduled in the RMA due to the popularity of that school. In order to sign up, you must go to Naviance and click “Colleges.” From there, you will be able to see a list of the upcoming schools on the right hand side of the page. The best time to go would be during a study hall; if the meeting is scheduled during a class you must get permission from your teacher to go. Most teachers will be understanding but it is important to know that you are still required to keep up with the work you missed. Overall, these meetings are a great way to get a feel for a school and find out a little more them. Find out more about these visits on Naviance and with your counselor.
