Pickleball Club is not on everyone’s radar, though it soon might be. A growing group has quietly become one of the most fun and welcoming groups at LFHS.
“I got the idea to start the Pickleball Club last summer,” said club founder Malia Donnez. “I started playing at the Deerpath courts with some of my friends. I really enjoyed it as a way to spend time with friends and a nice way to play outside. I thought it was a unique activity that should be incorporated at LFHS!”

Pickleball is a crossover between tennis and ping pong that incorporates fast rallies, quick games, and a lot of fun. You don’t have to be very athletic or experienced to join, you just have to show up with an open mind and be ready to play. The smaller courts make it a relaxed and social game, perfect for unwinding after a school day and getting some physical activity.
“This benefits the students because it is a low impact sport, especially doubles, so anyone can play,” said club sponsor Mr. Soprych. “The social aspect of playing with your friends benefits the students because it’s in a safe environment. Having a good time and having some healthy competition I believe is also good.”
Pickleball Club has become a place where students can connect with new people, move around, and recharge without the stress of other after school commitments.
“Pickleball Club is such a great way to catch up with my friends during the week,” said junior member Madeleine Axus.“It’s a super fun and chill sport that I really enjoy!”
Want to join? It’s simple.
“There is a Schoology page you can join with updates as to where we will be playing and the schedules,” said Club Founder Malia Donnez.“Just start showing up to open plays, follow Instagram for updates, and you are good to go!”
If you are looking for something new, easygoing and genuinely fun, this is the club for you.
Pickleball Club may be underrated, but not for long.
