Tonight is the night- Taylor Swift is set to release her 12th studio album The Life of a Showgirl at midnight ET. Her album includes 12 new tracks, with an album cover featuring sparkly orange designs with Swift emerging from a bed of water.
Swift is Spotify’s most streamed artist, as well as one of the most successful performers in the industry. Her most recently toured show “The Eras Tour” is the highest grossing concert in history, compiling over $2 billion. The 14 time Grammy winning artist is also the first and only musician to win the Grammy for Album of the Year four times. Swift is a musical titan, as she has spread her career transitioning from country to pop music while satisfying her fan base named the “Swifties”.
Swift is a mastermind, and with the debut of her new album, it is time to take a deep dive into what’s expected of the lyrical genius’s new tracks. As a truthful Swiftie, this is what I anticipate for a select amount of songs coming out on the megastars new album.

The Fate of Ophelia
The First track of Swift’s new album, The Fate of Ophelia, is predicted to have introduced a slower build into the high energy pop album. Ophelia of Shakespeare’s novel Hamlet is heavily related to the thematic and artist inspiration of the album. The resemblance of Ophelia tragically drowning at the end of Hamlet is seen in parallel images of The Life of a Showgirls art. I expect this song to explore themes of identity and innocence similar to where the inspiration of the song was drawn from.
Wi$h Li$t
I expect Taylor Swift’s track Wi$h Li$t to introduce a catchy, high energy, and possibly electronic production to her new album. The unique title raises eyebrows, and creates excitement for the theme and energy of the song. I predict that the dollar sign in the song relates to possible themes of materialism, consumerism, and desires Swift connects to.
Eldest Daughter
In contrast to the album’s perception as a whole, I think that Eldest Daughter will provide a slower tempoed song, with possible acoustics or piano accompaniment. The title suggests that through this song, Swift explores family roles and possibly expands on the idea of expectations placed on oldest children. I think that for most fans, this song will be heavily relatable, and will prove to be a big hit from the album.

The Life of a Showgirl (featuring Sabrina Carpenter)
The Life of a Showgirl is expected to be the absolute summation of the album’s themes. With a large feature like Sabrina Carpenter, this song is most desirable for the Swifties and is predicted to have a theatrical production. I think this song will explore themes of performance, image of celebrities, and also a lighthearted take on fame and success for women popstars. This song will likely be the centerpiece for the album, and expectations are undoubtedly high.
There’s no doubt that Swift is thriving in the prime of her career, and that this album will be nothing less than musical and lyrical genius. The high energy pop albums release has all Swifties on the edge of their seat, and I can only imagine that tonight’s release will mark history in the star’s booming career.
