Check Out a Club
Whether it’s Student Council, Yearbook Club, Stitch Club, or Finance Club, LFHS has a club for you. There are a plethora of different groups you can try out—all you have to do to join is ask a teacher, friend, or peer when a club meets, and just show up.
Sit Somewhere New at Lunch
An easy way to meet new people at LFHS is to sit in a new place for lunch. The grind, cafeteria, commons, library, and the public room are all places where you can eat your lunch and reset during your day.
Come to a CROYA Meeting
In the middle of a stressful school week, a Wednesday night CROYA meeting can be a boost of serotonin. CROYA stands for Committee Representing Our Young Adults—and they do just that. Every Wednesday at 7:00 pm, CROYA hosts a fun activity for high schoolers to come together, hang out, and meet new friends. From a game of Capture the Flag to the iconic What Would You Do For a Dollar?, there’s never a dull moment at CROYA. Because so many students have sports and activities at different times during the year, it is never too late to stop by and try it out.
Attend a Sports Game at Varsity Field
With the bleachers filled, students cheering, and blue and yellow flooding West Campus, going to a game is a must for the fall semester. Whether you’re into the game or just into the electric atmosphere of the varsity field, grab a friend and spend an evening watching one of our teams play under the lights. Some big events you can mark your calendars with include:
- Homecoming Football Game vs. Zion-Benton: Friday, September 19th – 7:00 pm
- Girls Field Hockey Game vs. New Trier: Tuesday, September 30th – 6:30 pm
- Boys Soccer Game vs. Mundelein: Monday, October 6th – 6:45 pm
- Girls & Boys Cross Country Night Race: Wednesday, October 8th – 7:00 pm
Join a New Activity
While fall sports are already underway, there are tons of winter and spring sports to look forward to this year. Multi-team options, including Freshman, Fresh/Soph, JV, and/or Varsity teams, give students of all levels the opportunity to get involved. If sports aren’t your thing, the Band, Orchestra, Choir, and Theater programs offer amazing experiences for young performers. Or if you excel at academics, check out our Math Team or Science Olympiad. LFHS has a wide array of opportunities for whatever skills you have or want to learn.
While starting a new activity can sometimes feel intimidating, LFHS has a variety of options to choose from. To see when clubs have meetings, check the daily LFHS Announcements on Schoology or posters on the staircases. Whether it’s your first semester at school or you’re a long-time Scout, it’s never too late to try something new.
