He came. He stuffed his face. He conquered.

Senior Nate Borland won The Forest Scout Rotisserie Chicken Eat Off Thursday in convincing fashion, defeating senior Alex Terlap, who could not keep up despite fasting in preparation for the event.

The crowd of students who gathered before 8th period were eager to see which senior gladiator could stuff down a whole rotisserie chicken the fastest.  The event was organized with the help of social worker Maggie Harmsen and Assistant Principal Frank Lesniak.

Borland, who thanked God and his mom after winning, said he didn’t expect to beat Terlap, who he described as a “hound.”

“I had a mentality that I was gonna eat my best game  and I would see how far it would get me. Mid eat I wouldn’t even look at (Terlap’s) plate; I didn’t want to distract myself but when I knew it was wraps, it was wraps,” he said.

Borland is the second-ever chicken champ.  Jack Kaplan won the 2023 event.  “Winning is awesome and I like to win,” he said.
