Congratulations, Class of 2025! Give yourself a pat on the back because we’re just 30 days away from our last Thursday block period. The stress is over, and the weight has been lifted. We’re off to an incredibly vast assortment of fine schools across the country and globe.
Thursday marked our second-to-last senior breakfast. Sadly, the sunrise viewing was canceled due to inclement weather. Don’t worry, there will be another one on our last day, May 29.
We have been through a lot as a class, but we’re almost there.
We survived Covid freshman year. Remember when moving seats at lunch was strictly forbidden? Then there was that first day that the mask mandate was lifted—some people still wore them, others didn’t.
It was such a weird time. We went to the state semi-finals for football freshman year.
It feels so long ago. The seniors had a “Joel-Rave” in the testing center (iykyk).
Remember watching the World Cup in class? Screaming at the TVs throughout the halls, checking scores and asking teachers to project the game. Yeah, that was sophomore year. Time flies doesn’t it?
The first Rotisserie Chicken Eat-Off was sophomore year—I remember leaving class to go watch. Senior football players will remember beating Mundelein on a field goal block by the one and only Nick Nassar.
Sophomore year was a good one. Oh—I almost forgot the big poop…
Now the hard one: junior year. Our schedules were packed with APs and classes we didn’t want to be in. Everyone was trying to find that easy honors class for a GPA boost.
This was also the year of the triple-overtime Libertyville thriller. That was a Lake Forest sporting event for the history books. The PIPS won state for the second year in a row. Boys basketball beat Lake Zurich on an awesome buzzer beater drawn up by Coach LaScala. We all rushed the court. I remember Mr. Silver tried to hold everyone back, which was a lost cause but pretty funny. What an electric Comp Gym moment!
Last but definitely not least, senior year. I can’t speak for everyone, but this year has definitely been my favorite. Our football and basketball teams were both really good, and there have been some unforgettable moments.
Lots of backflips at Homecoming, Arj dressed as Mr. Soprych for Halloween, beating Libertyville twice in football, lively spring break memories, hunting each other in Paranoia, and many more memories that will stick with us for a lifetime.
Let’s make the best of these last four weeks and soak it all in. Once again, congratulations, Class of 2025!
