Spring is the season of sunshine, blooming flowers, and fresh starts, making it the perfect time for fun and creative dates! Whether you’re already in a relationship or just getting to know someone, here are my top five spring date ideas to make the most of the season.
- Picnic in the Park or at the Beach
A spring classic! Grab a blanket, pack some snacks or takeout, and head to a nearby park or beach to enjoy some warm, spring weather. You get bonus points if you bring a speaker for some music and a frisbee or a card game. This date idea is low-key, fun, and super cute.

- Visit a Farmers Market
Wandering through booths of fresh flowers, local treats, and handmade goods is a great way to support small businesses while trying something new together. Plus, you can pick out snacks and have an impromptu picnic! During the first week of June, Lake Bluff opens its farmers market, which sells super fresh fruit and delicious breakfast.

- Go for a Scenic Hike or Nature Walk
Spring weather equals perfect hiking weather. I recommend finding a local trail or forest preserve, lacing up your sneakers, and exploring the great outdoors together. It’s a great way to talk, move, and soak in the fresh air. Fort Sheridan, Open Lands, Elawa Farms, and Old School Forest Preserve are all amazing places to take a stroll or a nice break at!

- Ice Cream and Sunset Walk
Keep it simple but sweet: grab ice cream from your favorite shop and go for a walk during golden hour. Whether it’s in your neighborhood or near a lake or beach, sunsets make everything more romantic. You could go to Sweets in Lake Forest and then head to Lake Forest Beach and sit on the rocks!

- Try a New Outdoor Activity Together
Tennis, mini golf, paddleboarding— spring is the season to try something fun and a little out of your comfort zone. Even if you’re both terrible at it, laughing and learning together makes for a great memory. Lake Bluff Park District has tennis and paddle courts, and it is a great summer activity to start! Paddle boarding is also a fun summer activity.

Spring is all about new beginnings and enjoying the little things— and that includes spending time with someone special. So get outside, be creative, and make memories that feel just as fresh as the season itself!
