As the buzz of March Madness ends, golf fans can rejoice at the arrival of the historical Masters tournament. Starting in 1934, the Masters has become the most enjoyable tournament on the PGA’s schedule. Augusta National Golf Club remains the only course that has remained the same host for a major event since its inaugural tournament. The beautiful course and amazing golf make this weekend unforgettable.
This year, the 95-player field contains several stars and potential dark horses that could surprise some fans this weekend. Scottie Scheffler starts the tournament as the clear favorite, given he has won the Masters twice in the past three years. Several people also favor Rory Mcilroy to capture his first ever Masters victory.
Personally, two players have stuck out to me as potential golfers who could win. The first player who could make a run is Bryson DeChambeau. Dechambeau hits the ball farther than any other player in the field, and he recently was victorious in the 2024 U.S. Open. The other player who I have faith in is the Australian Min Woo Lee. He recently won the Texas Children’s Houston Open on March 30, notably beating Scottie Scheffler by one stroke and capturing his first-ever PGA Tour win. Min Woo Lee is currently ranked 23rd in the World Golf Rankings, and his recent success hints at a potential breakthrough tournament.

The Masters is notably remembered for their countless amount of traditions, one being the famous green jacket awarded to every Masters winner. If golfers want to be known as one of the best, obtaining a green jacket is necessary. Other traditions include the Master’s dinner, which is a host to every past winner. It is cool to see so many golf greats who have won the same tournament in one room. Lastly, at the beginning of the tournament, three golf greats, Tom Watson, Gary Player, and Jack Nicklaus, take part in the honorary starters. These legends will tee off on the first hole, symbolizing the start of the unforgettable weekend.
These four days to come will bring excitement for everyone as we witness the best golfers in the world battle it out for arguably the most prestigious award in all of golf.
