The Boys Varsity Basketball team took a short trip out to Lincolnshire on Tuesday to play a North Suburban Conference game against the Stevenson Patriots. The Scouts (15-8, 6-4) took a crushing defeat from the Patriots (17-8, 8-2) with a final score of 41-38.
Senior Hudson Scroggins led the team with 13 points. The Scouts trailed early in the game, but took the momentum back, reaching a lead as large as . The scouts played a very good second quarter to cut their deficit to two before halftime.
The Scouts played a great third quarter, highlighted with two Luke Sawant three pointers to give the Scouts a 35-27 lead with nine minutes to play. After their great run, the Scouts’ offense went dry, leaving the door open for Stevenson to hit some shots down the line and win the game.
The Scouts now have four conference losses, three of which are by a combined seven points. They are now two games back from the conference-leading Patriots, who sit at 8-2 in conference play. The Scouts still have a chance at winning the conference, but the odds are slim.
The scouts return Friday night against Waukegan for a huge conference matchup against a very talented Bulldogs team. The game will also be on senior night, and the last home conference game for the nine seniors.
