The Winter Formal pep rally aimed to bring some excitement with a new tradition at LFHS. Held on Friday afternoon, the neon-themed event introduced new activities and competitions that students had never seen before.

While some said they found the event confusing  to follow, especially in the dark, many students loved the fun games and embraced the new tradition of singing and cheering. The pep rally allowed for a new crowd to join as dancing teachers, intramural basketball team captains, and rock paper scissor champions were able to participate in front of the school.

The gym was filled with excitement on Friday afternoon as students gathered for the first-ever Winter Formal pep rally. With neon colors and bright lights as the theme, the event shocked many students.

The pep rally began familiarly, with the band and dance team performing the fight song. The first act of the pep rally set the tone with a teacher dance in the dark. Faculty members traded their usual roles with some neon dance moves.

Next came a competitive rock-paper-scissors contest in which students raced to beat all the students in their section to be their “class representative.” Then, each representative competed against the others to claim the title of the rock-paper-scissors champion. This was by far the most enjoyed part of the pep rally as each class was cheering as loud as they could for their representative.

The next event turned to basketball in the dark as intramural team captains faced off in a shootout. Teams cheered on their captains, but the real varsity captains of the winter sports stole the show during a balloon-popping race.

Then came the event where the gymnastics team performed stunts on the tumble track alongside teachers who attempted jumps of their own.

The pep rally ended with a spirited sing-along, and each class was tasked to sing the loudest. The event set the tone for the Winter Formal, leaving everyone excited to come to the dance on Saturday.

With its vibrant theme and new engaging activities, the Winter Formal pep rally was a unique tradition to start, making itself a new tradition to look forward to in the years to come.
