The LFHS Winter Formal is just around the corner, scheduled on Sat., Jan. 25th at 7:00 PM until 9:30 PM. This dance is an
exciting time for all, especially since roles are reserved as it’s now time for the boys to be stressed about getting asked to the dance. Traditionally, Winter Formal is known as “Turnabout” because it’s the dance where the girls ask the boys to be their dates. In the past few years at LFHS, there haven’t been any activities leading up to the formal. However, this year the student council has decided to change that.
The theme of the dance this year is New York Nights, and the gym will be decorated with different aspects of the city.
As for purchasing tickets for the dance, there is a new, upgraded system that is much more efficient for both students and staff.
“The website purchasing platform has changed, as it allows all of our student data to be housed in one space. Students can now purchase tickets themselves— instead of logging into their RevTrak account, which usually only parents use— and can use Apple Pay or any credit card when purchasing tickets,” said Director of Student Activities, Mrs. Malec. “Now, the 5-Star Student platform sells the tickets and automatically populates our check-in roster. Additionally, our EdTechs created a digital guest form that will allow us to check off guests as they’re approved and then release the guest tickets for sale after approval. This allows for a more secure dance as guest tickets are only sold after approval.”
At the dance, there will be multiple activities other than just dancing. There will be a few New York-style food stands, as well as access to a dessert bar. Per usual, there will be multiple arrays of seating and standing tables available.
This year, the junior class student council is introducing a new concept of a Winter Showcase. This showcase will include prioritizing different activities and clubs rather than athletics that are featured in the fall pep rally. This showcase is meant to bring light and energy towards not only the Winter Formal, but everything surrounding it.
After the showcase, if you’re still feeling the excitement, you’re in luck. The LFHS boys basketball team has a home game that Friday night against Warren Township High School at 7 PM. Make sure to wear all white as the theme is White-Out, and don’t forget to buy tickets on GoFan before the game.
