Week 18 saw Caleb Williams and the Chicago Bears roll into Lambeau Field on a ten-game skid. To some, it may have seemed like just another season-ending matchup. For Bears fans, however, this was much more than that– it was their Super Bowl.
The stakes were high: breaking a 10-game win drought, defeating their rivals, and setting the tone for the 2025 season made this game monumental. This game had all the elements of a pivotal moment for a team that had struggled to find its footing throughout the beginning of the season.
The Bears, led by interim Head Coach Thomas Brown, marched into the Frozen Tundra with determination and snuck out a dramatic victory. Just weeks earlier, on Nov. 17, the Bears had a field goal blocked which resulted in a heartbreaking loss for Chicago sports fans.
The game-winning 51-yard field goal from kicker Cairo Santos had many fans feeling déjà vu.
“What way can we screw this up,” avid Bears fan Nick Angelos said.
But Santos drilled the 51-yard kick to end the Bears’ season on a high note.
“This was our Super Bowl,” senior Boden Rupprecht said. “Playing the Packers is always the biggest game of the season, regardless of each team’s record.”
This win in Green Bay brought an end to both the Bears’ season and their losing streak. However, the celebration wasn’t just about ending a losing streak, it was about proving that this team has the ability and resilience to overcome any adversary that comes their way.
Looking ahead to the 2025 season, this victory on a cold Sunday afternoon at Lambeau gives the Bears a renewed sense of confidence going into next season.
Beating their rivals on the road is a huge change in swagger after enduring ten straight losses. The Chicago Bears are currently in the process of looking for a new Head Coach.
With the right leader in the locker room and a little bit of extra swagger, the Bears might have the potential to be a a contender in the NFC North next season. The bears have the roster to be a problem, but they need to hire the right guy.
