Friday Five

Kasha Jamboretz

All the way from Harpenden, England, freshman Kasha Jamboretz lights up every room she walks into. Her humor and kindness are contagious when you talk to Kasha. Kasha knows how to turn your day around and effortlessly uplift those around her.

Kasha’s cheerful energy is brought to its fullest on the field hockey and lacrosse field. Kasha is a star player on both fields and is a core member on each team. Both teams wouldn’t be complete without Kasha.

“Kasha has always been a true friend. Anyone who knows her knows how genuine she is. She is not only such a kind and good person, but she is also so smart and works so hard at everything she does. She is always full of joy and always knows just what to say,” said freshman Mimi Hirschfield.

Besides being an incredible athlete and an amazing, fun, supportive teammate, Jamboretz’s personality comes out in other ways than the field. Kasha’s style does not go unnoticed and is adored by many. Her mix of new, trendy, and timeless pieces makes her look put together in and out of school. Kasha’s eye for fashion leaves a lasting impression on everyone she meets.

Kasha’s determination and drive are shown in many ways. Kasha’s dedication to school is very impressive for a freshman, with a variety of clubs and activities, such as Model UN. Jamboretz is ready for success. Outside of school, Kasha enjoys hanging out with her friends, playing lacrosse for her club team, Team One, and spending time with her family and her dog, Gunner.

Senior brother Theo Jamboretz said, “Kasha is always there for me and she would always stand up for me no matter what the situation is.”

Kasha Jamboretz is just getting started, leaving her mark at LFHS.

Pilar Rosales

Preston Lui

Junior Pilar Rosales has not only had an exceptional cross-country season, but also balances this with academic success, and being an amazing friend. Every week Pilar pushes herself to work harder and be even better, whether this is in cross-country meets or other aspects of her life.

Sophomore Maddy Stell, who is thankful to have had Pilar as an amazing teammate and leader throughout her first cross-country season, shares, “Everyone loves Pilar because of how positive she is, and she has brought the team together so much. Being on a team with her makes me love cross country so much more!”

Pilar is not only a strong and dedicated runner but also an encouraging teammate and amazing friend. Recently, she broke the 18-minute mark for a three-mile race, which amounts to a little under six minutes per mile. This is a milestone that very few runners at LFHS can break.

Gianna Lagunas, a senior and captain of the cross-country team, admires Pilar’s hard work and dedication on and off the cross-country course. She says, “Pilar’s ability to manage both cross country and school is inspiring, especially since she excels at both. She is a fun teammate who inspires everyone to work their hardest.”

Pilar’s hardworking attitude is truly contagious, always motivating everyone around her to strive for their best. Beyond her impressive academic and athletic achievements, she always makes time to be a supportive friend, and her positive outlook has the ability to uplift everyone around her.

“Pilar is the definition of a student-athlete, she never slacks off, and she always motivates me with her constant drive for success,” said junior Maggie Jarvinen.

Through her hard work and constant support of her teammates and friends, Pilar is a person for everyone to look up to both on and off the cross-country course. As she continues to break personal records, she sets a great example of determination and positivity. Pilar truly embodies what it means to be a student-athlete, balancing her running talents with her dedication to her academics and friends while paving the way to her future success.

Natalie LaMartin

Senior Natalie LaMartin is an absolute weapon. Between getting big hits for her softball team and getting the best grades she can, Natalie puts maximum effort into everything she does.

When it comes to school, Natalie is known for the number of energy drinks she consumes while doing homework but is also known as a top student. She always finds ways to push herself academically by taking rigorous classes and even involving herself in academic after-school activities, like the Math Team.

“She always is willing to help when I have any questions related to anything and she works so hard at school. I’ve never seen a harder worker,” said senior Eva Elsen.

Natalie’s work ethic is unsurpassed and noticed by many.

“Nat is one of the kindest, smartest, and most motivated people I know,” said Senior Hannah Belenkiy. “She’s always pushing herself in everything that she does, and her ability to be enthusiastic every single day is truly inspiring.”

Her enthusiasm goes beyond the classroom and extends even into her leadership.

As Varsity Softball’s team captain, Natalie’s dedication can be seen through her strong leadership and athleticism, encouraging her teammates through her solid hitting, smooth fielding, and supportive attitude.

“She is an amazing leader,” said Senior teammate Carly Thelen. “She always uplifts everybody and makes sure everybody is having the time of their life and she also makes sure everybody is putting in all the hard work that she knows they can.”

Not only is she uplifting her teammates on the field, but also friends off it. For her friends, Natalie is known as a positive person who is down for anything and is always smiling.

“Nat is one the smartest people I know. She’s beautiful inside and out. She’s always so attentive to her friends and makes sure that everyone is doing great,” said senior Grace Erlenbach.

Easy to talk to and kind to everyone, Natalie is a great friend. Her loyalty is strong and although she tends to be on the quieter side, her love for her friends speaks volumes. She is often described as one of the most supportive friends you can ask for and is always pushing her friends to work hard at school and while playing sports.

Mrs. Kristen Anderson

It’s hard to find a teacher who’s more universally liked among students than Mrs. Anderson, the backbone of the Wellness Department.

Mrs. Anderson is known to many students, especially girls, for teaching Wellness for Life, Healthy Lifestyles, and Advanced Health. Freshmen, sophomores, juniors, and seniors alike have all come to know and love Mrs. Anderson.

Every day Mrs. Anderson’s calm and exceptionally kind personality never fails to make students comfortable in her classroom.

She always makes an effort to connect with her students by sharing personal anecdotes about her kids, her time in college, and things she’s learned while teaching.

“One of my fondest memories was when Mrs. Anderson was talking to my friend and me about how it was raising twins. She was telling us how hard it was to change two babies and feed two babies; It was very enlightening to hear what it is like for a mom other than my own,” senior Erin Miller said.

Her efforts to teach students important life lessons like caring for babies, how to take care of your mental health, and important eating habits create positive models for students to follow and will undoubtedly help them in the future.

Mrs. Anderson isn’t only a good teacher because she knows what she’s doing, but also because she listens to her students. She asks her classes whether or not they want to walk or study some days depending on their mood and if it’s a stressful time of the year for students. She makes sure to listen to students, help them through problems, and give them advice, no matter the problem.

While health classes often go underappreciated, Mrs. Anderson’s lessons and engaging activities make for fond memories to help her students prepare for the future.

Noah Kowalski

Senior Noah Kowalski is a dedicated person, coach, and Scout who deserves to have the spotlight shine upon him. Noah’s leadership as a hockey player and coach is what makes him stand out against the rest.

Outside of school, Noah is either coaching hockey for the Mite Winter Club team, playing hockey, or hanging out with his friends. Noah started playing hockey when he was 5. He joined the Scouts Varsity team his junior year and returned his senior year. Noah plays left wing for the Scouts and has earned a starting shift on the ice. Noah is known for his determination and leadership on the ice, and his teammates and friends agree.

“Noah is there when you need him, shows that he genuinely cares, and his funny personality is always fun to be around,” said senior Luke Callahan.

Every Thursday Noah plays flag football with all his friends and hangs out with them every chance he gets. He also goes to church every Sunday with his family and can sometimes be found volunteering at Feed My Starving Children.

“Noah takes his time on the ice. He is a great player who helps lead our team on and off the ice. He’s someone you can count on, who never quits and will always give 100%,” said senior Frankie Catalano.

Noah is one of the few seniors on his team and plays a key role in leading the Scouts hockey team toward their wins.

“Noah is a great leader on the ice. Whether we’re at a team workout or practice, he always leads by example. He shows up early and helps us younger players by clarifying drills. Noah knows when to have fun but also when to be serious. He’s an amazing leader who consistently puts his body on the line and puts the team before himself,” said junior Jack Milliman.

Noah’s teammates, coaches, and friends all know how much of an impact Noah makes and what a positive guy he is.
