Now that the fall sports season is in full swing, the Lake Forest Varsity Volleyball program continues to work hard and secure victories while on the way to regionals and sectionals. With the 2024 roster, the girls have the goal to change the past records and make regionals and sectionals their time to shine. Although the record may not show, the team’s growth and commitment throughout the season have come a long way while pushing for a run during playoffs.
This season has had its ups and downs but the team continues to get stronger and better through each game and practice. The captains are determined to bring the energy up on and off the court and continue to build bonds in order to make sure the team plays together and not just as individuals.
“We have grown so much as a team on and off the court. As captains, we really are pushing everyone to be their best but also having fun while doing so,” said senior captain Kiley Goodman. “It is important to all of us that we end the season on a strong note.”
With senior night as a conference match and the last home game coming up on Monday, Oct. 21, LFVB is working towards adding more victories.
“For senior night, we’re already looking forward to playing as a team and trying to come out with the wind during our last game of the season,” said another senior captain Maggie Gilleran. “ I think we all have a really great mindset going into senior night and, I think that we are in good shape. It’ll definitely be sad to not play with this team next year but we’re ready to win this year.”
Once the regular season ends Oct. 24, the Scouts will be working even harder for Regionals the following week. They will be playing Fenton High School in Wheaton, IL on Oct. 31. If the Scouts are able to win the regional game, they will then further advance to the sectional game potentially playing against the number one ranked Wheaton Academy’s Volleyball Team.
“Regionals are a really exciting time. The games are always filled with a unique energy that is different from every regular season game,” said junior captain Molly Tomas. “I think our team has a really good shot at success during the tournament as long as we continue to stay consistent and maintain positive energy throughout the game.”
LFVB is excited to finish off the season and will continue to work hard during the playoffs.
“Take it day by day, and give it your all. You never know when the end is coming, so play every day like it’s your last and leave it all on the court,” said Head Coach Leah Everett.
Best of luck to the seniors and the team during regionals and sectionals.
