Junior Cece Gordon is nothing short of an exceptional friend, constantly embracing others with her special sense of humor and contagious smile.

Cece’s commitment towards the Varsity Lacrosse and Field Hockey teams is remarkable, as she strives to reach her full potential while also creating an enjoyable social setting amongst each team.

“Cece has such a strong work ethic and is so supportive of all of her teammates. She is such a great example to all the younger girls since she always works her hardest but still has fun,” said senior teammate Maeve Farrell.

She is quite the social butterfly, and her optimism and constant positive attitude take her very far. Any chance she has, she strikes up a conversation, always making you feel special. She has charmed many, holding on to close friendships throughout her entire life. When she meets new faces, she doesn’t hold back, and she is eager to befriend them!

“Cece is super funny and welcoming. She is always smiling and willing to make others’ days better,” said junior Will Lancaster.

Cece’s tight-knit family brings the utmost happiness to her life. She grew up in a household of big personalities, though she finds a way to create her own character. Cece’s unique disposition captivates others, and her witty remarks never fail to bring joy to every circumstance.

“There is never a dull moment with Cece around! She truly knows how to light up a room with her contagious laughter,” said junior Evelyn Marshall.

Cece’s light continues to shine bright throughout the LFHS halls.

Carter Savage

Anna Jasper

Sophomore Carter Savage dedicated a week of his summer to go on a work trip in Roscommon, Michigan, with the First Presbyterian Church of Lake Forest. He spent the entire week getting to know the locals, renovating houses for those who are less fortunate and ultimately spreading kindness throughout the community.

Sophomore Bobby Roleck went on a work trip with Carter this past summer.

“Even when we were exhausted from all of the physical labor, Carter’s determination and positivity to keep working kept me motivated. He’s the best person to work with because he knows how to get the job done while making it fun. We created games out of work, like seeing who could hammer the most nails or put shingles on a roof the fastest,” Roleck said.

Nearly every Sunday, Carter attends youth groups at the church with his friends. During the school year, he continues to make an impact in Lake Forest by participating in volunteer opportunities organized by the church.

In addition to giving back to different communities, Carter is also a well-rounded athlete at LFHS. He plays hockey in the fall, and lacrosse in the spring. Carter is a dedicated player with a strong work ethic, always striving to improve his skills and support his teammates.

Junior Braden Hoskins played on the JV lacrosse team last year with Carter.

“Carter is a great teammate because he always shows respect to everyone. He constantly recognizes and celebrates the achievements of others,” said Hoskins.

Carter is also very family and friend-oriented. He is often found spending time with his loved ones and is recognized by many for being a great friend.

“I think that Carter is the kind of friend everyone should strive to be. Carter is one of the most loyal and dependable people I know; he is always there for his friends. Carter is effortlessly comforting and has a unique way of cheering people up with his humor,” sophomore Carina Lagunas said.

Carter’s kind heart, dedication, and loyalty are admirable. He is the epitome of a Lake Forest Scout!

Caitlin O’Shea

Junior Caitlin O’Shea is the type of person you want to be friends with. Her kindness, leadership skills, and immaculate style are evident. Caitlin is a third-year Varsity Field Hockey player, and not only does she bring skill and talent to the team, but also positivity and energy that lifts up the Scout spirit.

Field hockey teammate, junior Campell Gore, says, “She is a loyal teammate on and off the field, and always has positive energy. She is one of my longest friends and longest teammates.”

Caitlin is always a teammate that you can count on, both skill-wise and leadership-wise. She was voted to be one of the captains by her other teammates and it is clear that they voted for the right person. Her leadership skills are seen at every practice and game.

Not only is she a leader at school but throughout the summer she was a camp counselor at Camp Hope. Camp Hope is a five-day retreat summer camp for teens and adults with disabilities.  During her time there, other counselors were able to see Caitlin’s encouraging spirit and kindness.

Most of all, though, Caitlin is a good friend.

“Caitlin is the best kind of friend I could ask for. She’s always there for me whenever I need someone to talk to about serious stuff, or to mess around with. We have been friends forever and I am so grateful for how much our friendship has grown throughout the years,” said junior Sophia Shader.

Caitlin’s amiable personality leaves a mark on the Lake Forest community, and she never fails to be there for others.

Kiley Goodman

Senior Kiley Goodman is an incredible person on and off the volleyball court. Her bubbly personality and contagious smile speak louder than words.

If you can’t find her in the halls, you will see her on the court. Goodman has been playing indoor and beach volleyball since fifth grade and this has helped her make the Girls Varsity Volleyball team at LFHS her sophomore year. Goodman has a very important role on the team: she is one of the two team captains. She is a true leader and a role model to all of those around her. Goodman always puts her best effort into each practice and game, and her teammates strongly agree.

Kaia Pienkosz and Alissa Eglite, juniors on the Varsity Volleyball team, have a lot to say about Goodman.

“She’s always hyping everyone up, keeping everyone with a positive attitude. Whenever we have a long practice, she makes it feel like five minutes with her energetic and fun personality,” said Pienkosz.

“Kiley is always pushing each of our teammates to be their best,” said Eglite. “Her scout spirit and constant energy are so treasured on our team.”

Sophomore Kylie Pure, also a Varsity Volleyball team member, enjoys Goodman’s company.

“Kiley is an amazing teammate who always puts others before herself. I feel so comfortable being next to her on the court and I’m so happy to call her my friend,” said Pure.

In her free time, Goodman enjoys baking, shopping, and traveling to new places. However, Goodman always makes time for her friends. Many students struggle to balance volleyball, school, and spending time with their friends, yet Goodman makes it look easy. She has a friendly face and can instantly make her friends smile.

A few of Goodman’s friends, seniors Caroline Pienkosz and Annie Gibbons, love to spend time with her.

“She’s the funniest and most easygoing person I know, and she’s always looking out for her friends,” said C. Pienkosz.

“Kiley is the most trustworthy, loyal person I know,” said Gibbons. “I’m so lucky to be friends with someone as amazing as her.”

Considering all of this, Kiley Goodman has made a large impact on her peers, sports-related or not, being her true self through and through. She has a bright future and, she can be described as a kindhearted friend.

Preston Lui

Junior Preston Lui is a jack of all trades when it comes to high school activities. He is always involved in as much as he can be when it comes to extracurriculars and makes time to play the sport he loves and pursue his passion for photography.

When he isn’t at school or doing homework, you can find him on the ice getting his practice in on the Varsity Hockey team. He has been playing hockey for the Scouts since his freshman year of high school when he moved to Lake Forest and has been a crucial part of the program in his three years of being a Scout.

Every day when he goes into the rink he can lighten the mood for the entire team and is a great contributor to team morale.

His teammates Robert Krebs and Jake Maraccini, juniors on the Varsity Hockey team at LFHS, had a lot of positive things to say about Lui.

“Preston is the guy to bring energy and laughter to the locker room no matter the situation,” said Krebs.

“Preston is a huge asset to our team, bringing both energy and coachability,” said Maraccini. “He’s always open to feedback, using advice and critiques to further elevate his already impressive skill set.”

During his free time, Preston likes to pursue his passion for photography. He runs a photography business called Photos By Lui where he takes action shots for different sporting events. He works with various teams at the high school including Varsity and Junior Varsity Football, Varsity Lacrosse, Varsity Field Hockey, Boys Varsity Soccer, Varsity and Junior Varsity Baseball, and many other events.

Lui works with other students at LFHS to produce athletic photography and post it on their businesses and social media platforms.

Liam Lumpp, junior photographer had this to say about working with Lui.

“He’s very hard working and he’s a good person to work within a profession that requires lots of peer support and advice,” said Lumpp.

Lui’s work ethic and personality have made huge impacts on all of his peers and teammates as he is always there to push himself and others around him to be the best versions of themselves.
