Following their 35-12 win against Lakes, the Lake Forest High School Football Team will continue their season with an away game Friday against Carmel Catholic High School, who are 1-0 after beating Grayslake Central by 49 points last week.
The home game with Lakes started off strong, as senior QB Danny Van Camp threw two touchdowns to sophomore WR Jack Burger. That was followed by a 93-yard touchdown from senior WR Charlie Markee, who added a second touchdown and ended the night with 149 yards.
The Scouts powered through the second half as senior RB Marty Hippel contributed with a 49-yard rush, resulting in a touchdown. Overall the Scouts’ strong passing game and speed dominated Lakes.
On the other side of the ball, senior LB Tim Dan forced a fumble on Lakes’ first drive, which was recovered by teammate Chris Lindemman. Senior safety Ryan Milliman and senior DL Finn Goodman also collected interceptions, capping off a three-turnover night for the Scouts’ defense.
“Lakes had changed their plays from previous seasons, but after the second quarter we got more familiar with their strategy,” said Hippel, “We now have film on Carmel from their first game which will help us prepare. They’re a good team and they’ll probably score a lot so we just need to be able to keep up.”
