After a year of hard work, four Business Incubator groups have advanced to the final pitch. The following teams will present to investors with the hope to receive enough money to kick start their businesses.
Safe Sorella: Owen Kohut, Hannah Conley, Harriet Pierce, Kat Yakes, Enzo Nottoli
Safe Sorella is a fashionable and discreet necklace that includes a silent panic button. When pressed, an alert with the user’s location is sent to local authorities. “The goal of our business is to create a safer environment for female college students,” junior Hannah Conley said.
Athlattic: Heidi Mobius, Derek Marshall, Brooke Bolton, Grace Clark
Athlattic is a website that allows seniors graduating from LFHS and Lake Forest parents to resell the second hand sports equipment they no longer need. “Throughout this year our group has become really close,” junior Brooke Bolton said. “Our friendship has definitely played a role in the group’s success.”
ParkingPal: Matthew Hahn, Charlotte Arvia, Chris Lindemann, Matthew Lyon
ParkingPal is an app that allows homeowners living close to LFHS to list their driveway as a parking spot for students. Spots can be rented for a semester or for a one time event. “It’s exciting to be working on a service that solves an issue so many students are struggling with,” said junior Chris Lindemann.
Velox Photography: Will Frentzas, Karl Nagel, Helena Florjancic, Amelia Kavanagh, Michael Bousis
Velox Photography is a website where student athletes can hire a highly skilled student photographer for their sporting events. Velox Photography focuses on the individual rather than the team. “We want to help student athletes get the high quality photos they deserve,” junior Amelia Kavanagh said.
Pitch Night will take place on Wednesday, May 22nd, at 7pm in the RMA. .

When I tried making a reply previously, I didn’t get the email to hit confirm. The exact text is below:
Not exactly. Handguns are better because they can be concealed.
However, a rifle is far better than a “panic necklace” at protecting the bearer from threats to their life, and it’s leagues better than just fists.
College students are adults, and they have a right to keep and bear arms. They ought to exercise this right and protect themselves.

“Safe” Sorella is a disservice to the safety of women and college students. A “panic button” provides no resistance against an attacker. Necklaces provide a point to grab and strangle the victim. Police are far less likely to respond to a necklace button than a 911 call or a blue-light campus button. A discreet panic button reduces very little deterrence to zero.
If you want to protect the vulnerable, arm them. Gunshots are one of the most reliable ways to incapacitate an attacker. You can’t be strangled by a holster or a wrist-strap. Gunshots are loud and distinct enough to ensure that any cops nearby will respond. Although concealment is generally a more sane route, open-carrying a rifle will deter a lot.

did you just seriously recommend carrying a rifle around a college campus?!
