Boys Volleyball has officially started to host open gyms for the upcoming season at LFHS. One open gym has already happened with five more coming up.
Tryouts for Boys Volleyball officially start on March 3, with the tradition of the Blue-Gold scrimmage on March 14 and the first official match at Carmel on March 19.
“Everyone was super supportive and uplifting and it was really fun to play high-level volleyball,” said Jack Guenther, the sole freshman on the Varsity Team last year. “What I would say to the other underclassmen aspiring to be on varsity is to just have fun and enjoy the game of volleyball since it’s not all about what team you’re on.”
Senior Thomas Hasselbring said his favorite part about volleyball at LFHS is that “it’s a great time to practice that isn’t too late after school, tons of gym space and I love my teammates.”
Team chemistry will be a big part of the team’s success this season, with only five seniors graduating last year a majority of the Varsity Players are back for a second try to win the title of “North Suburban Conference Champions.”
Fan attendance plays a big role in how the team performs each night and every win counts. The first home match will be on Thursday, March 21 against Ridgewood.
