Coming off a big 2-0 win against North Town on Tuesday, the Lake Forest Girls Varsity Volleyball team is entering their IHSA Regional Finals against Grayslake North Thursday at 6 p.m. in the competition gym.

If LFHS (17-14) comes out with a win, they will head to the preliminary round of the Sectional tournament, slated for Monday night.

Last year, the team won their Regional championship against Cary Grove and is hoping to repeat that victory at their last home game of the season.

“[We’re hoping] to get another plaque up on that wall. The team has improved tremendously since the beginning of the season and we can’t wait to show it off,” senior captain and D1 commit Mackenzie Pitera said.

Pitera says the team knows what they are capable of, and are confident that they can take the win on Thursday if they continue to play the way they have throughout the season.

“After a lot of ups and downs this season, I’m really proud that we were able to pull it together and make it this far into regionals. After so much preparation I feel ready to face Grayslake North … If we play our game like we have been and focus on ourselves, I’m confident we’ll take this win,” senior Captain Courtney Hvostik said.
