Rating Starbucks Drinks As A Starbucks Employee
September 15, 2022
Working at Starbucks has been so fun since I am able to try new drinks and give recommendations to customers. In this review, maybe you will even find your new favorite drink!
Pumpkin Spice Latte: 7/10
Every year, people can’t wait for the Starbucks fall drinks to be released, especially the Pumpkin Spice Latte. But, I believe that the PSL is extremely overhyped and honestly, the taste is a little underwhelming. A little goes a long way with the pumpkin sauce and in my opinion; it’s too sweet. The pumpkin sauce is similar to the sauce used in chai lattes, so if you like those, you will like PSLs. If I were to get it again, I would definitely get at least one less pump of the pumpkin sauce.
Pineapple Passion Fruit Refresher: 4/10
When this drink first came out, I was super excited to try it because I love both pineapple and passion fruit, but I was extremely disappointed that I could only taste the pineapple. I love passion fruit juice on its own, so to find out that there was barely any passion fruit flavor in this drink was upsetting. Not only is the pineapple overpowering, the pineapple juice itself is a little bitter. I have heard from some people that the drink is better with coconut milk because it adds some sweetness, but I have yet to try it.
Chai Latte: 8/10
Chai has never sounded super appetizing to me because I don’t like drinking tea, so I just tried it for the first time 2 weeks ago. I also know that chai lattes are relatively hyped up as well, but unlike the PSL, I believe that the hype over the chai latte is worth it. The flavor is pretty similar to the PSL, but I think it needs 1 less pump of the sauce. The thing I love about Chai though is that it is available all year round and you can get it hot or iced! Chai has a sweet but also spice filled flavor to it which gives it a nice comforting feel when I drink it.
Mango Dragon Fruit Refresher: 10/10
Out of all the refreshers I have tasted, this one has to be the best in my opinion. I personally do not like the taste of mango, but this drink is so incredibly good and perfect for when you want something other than coffee. I’ve wanted to try this drink for a long time but the mango was holding me back. I regret not trying it sooner because it’s just that good. In this drink, the dragon fruit is more overpowering, but unlike the pineapple passion fruit refresher, you can still taste some of the mango. This drink has the perfect sweetness and it’s so pretty, making it the perfect year round drink.
Toasted Vanilla Oat Milk Shaken Espresso: 9/10
No matter what time of the day it is, this drink is the perfect pick me up. I really like that the vanilla syrup is toasted because it gives the drink a more cozy taste. The presentation of the drink itself is always so satisfying with the vanilla swirling into the coffee, making a beautiful light brown color. I love how when you drink it, you taste the vanilla first and then the espresso, which is a lovely balance of flavors. This is my current favorite drink to get so I definitely recommend getting it.
Mocha Cookie Crumble Frappuccino: 10/10
There are so many things about this frappuccino that make it stand out from the rest. One of my favorite aspects of the drink is that there is whipped cream and chocolate crumble pieces at the bottom because it adds a nice texture and flavor. The base itself tastes pretty similar to a Java Chip frappuccino, which is a coffee based frappuccino with chocolate pieces in it, but the mocha syrup and cookie crumbles really make it more chocolatey.
Chocolate Cream Cold Brew: 5/10
I was disappointed in this drink when I got it for the first time. I expected the chocolate cream to add a rich sweetness to the drink, but it did the opposite. The chocolate cream tasted bitter, almost like cocoa powder. I definitely prefer the Vanilla Sweet Cream Cold Brew because the vanilla cream on top actually enhances the flavor of the drink. This drink is good if you are looking for a lot of caffeine, since cold brew contains a lot of it.
Caramel Ribbon Crunch Frappuccino: 10/10
This drink is relatively similar to the Mocha Cookie Crumble Frap, but instead of mocha it’s caramel. The caramel syrup at the bottom mixed with the whipped cream tastes heavenly. This tastes very similar to the regular caramel frappuccino but they add some salt to the top of it. I have ordered this drink many times before just because of the salt topping. I like to mix the whipped cream, caramel, and salt to make the perfect salted caramel flavor.
