Saddle Up Scouts: Pep Rally 2022
September 9, 2022
Pommers dressed in blue and gold uniforms. The floor filled with students voted “best dressed.” Captains competing to represent their team. It’s that time of year again.
There are a great deal of things that take place at LFHS each year during Homecoming week. One is the Homecoming Pep Rally filled with entertainment galore.
With Spirit Week already getting students psyched for Homecoming, the Pep rally, on top of that, gives students an opportunity to come together and display their Scout Pride.
“I think it’s a great way to kick off homecoming weekend and the festivities,” said junior Chloe York.
Last year, due to COVID restrictions, the Pep Rally was outside and many noticed that it lacked the usual audience. This year, the Student Council hopes bringing the event back inside means the crowd will be more into it.
“My Freshman year, the 2019 Scout Pep Rally, was one of the greatest school events I’ve experienced,” said senior Chloe Robb. “But due to COVID, the Pep Rally spirit has been absent, so bringing the pep rally back to full force this year is going to be one to remember.”
The assembly will begin at 2:20pm on September 16, so each class is only 30 minutes. To start, the annual Pep Rally video will be displayed to the school community. This year’s homecoming theme is Western, so plan on seeing some Wild Wild content. Also, if you were worried or wondering, the iconic “late to the Pep Rally” scene will be continued.
A few things will stay consistent with past years such as: captain games, LFDT and band performances, Spirit Week “best dressed” awards, class lip synching, and of course a whole lot of spirit. The games this year have been carefully crafted to keep the audience engaged. It might even get a little messy this year, so saddle up Scouts.
Student Council plans to keep many favored traditions but spice up others.
“We are bringing back games from the past while also trying to add in new things,” said Pep Rally Committee member Caroline Donnelley. “I encourage all students to participate as it will be super fun this year!”
