ELS Game returns for battle with alumni
March 29, 2022
One of LFHS’s most memorable events, the ELS Game, returns for the first time in two years Thursday. This new year brings a new twist: The opponent will be Integrated Wellness and LFHS alumni, rather than usual opponent New Trier.
Chuck Spagnoli’s Integrated Wellness program has participated in this game for years. He works with special needs students and peers for weeks preparing for the game, which takes place during the lunch periods and 3rd period on Thursday.
The Integrated Wellness program is raising money for Camp Hope, which provides a week long summer camp experience for kids with special needs. The camp consists of many summer activities that are fun but also provide participants with support and information to help them grow.
T-shirts will be sold during lunches all week to raise money for Camp Hope. They are $10 and encouraged to be worn to the game.
This year’s Lake Forest High School roster
Senior Hannah Hinkemeyer may be one of the happiest players on the court. She is known to have a smile cheek to cheek while dribbling up and down the court. She never hesitates to get back and put her arms up on defense.
Senior Jane Riley is a 4 year starter and a vital asset to the team. You most likely will spot her crashing through center court and doing her signature “granny” shot. She is also the first to clap and congratulate teammates.
Senior Nicolette Bevis is a 4-year starter. Though she is short, she is also mighty. Nicolette is known for sticking her arms in front of her making sure no one is in her way while on offense. She is also quick to get back to defend.
Sophomore Sam Ma has a wicked shot. This will be his first ELS Game, which is only motivating him to work harder in practice every day. Sam is always looking to pass to others and get rebounds, and he is going to be the man to guard for the alumni.
Freshman Eshan Nair (not pictured) is by far the tallest player. Using his height to his advantage, he is great at getting his arms up on defense and securing defensive rebounds.
Freshman Grace Donnellan never misses a beat on the court. She is the first one to get back on defense and first one to get up on offense. Her shot is often nothing but net.
Freshman Hannah Miczuga is by far the most creative on the court. She loves to try spin moves and tricky angles when shooting. She is speedy and aggressive.
Freshman Jack Clark will begin his ELS Game career Thursday. After weeks of preparation, he is ready to go. His favorite thing to do is pass the ball in and run up the court. You can find him under the basket looking for rebounds.
Each of these players is fired up and ready to play the alumni. They hope to see you there!
