The Lake Forest Boys Swimming and Diving team walked away with a massive win last week against their Libertyville rival.

Lake Forest’s Varsity team had an incredible performance, coming out on top with a 142-43 point victory over Libertyville’s Varsity, but Lake Forest’s JV team was not able to outscore Libertyville’s JV team, taking a 74-101 point loss.

However, Varsity’s victory is where this meet shined. Their 99 point win also came with four new pool records set by captains Sidd Ojha and James Bentley, as well as senior Oleksa Zobkiv.

“With Championship season in sight, it was great to see some fast swims all around and plenty of season bests. Our strong performance against Libertyville is truly a testament to the work that everyone has been putting in throughout the season and the commitment to the sport that they have demonstrated,” said Ojha.

Ojha set the 200 Yard Freestyle record with a 1:47.55, beating the previous time by 0.79 seconds. Ojha also set the 500 Yard Freestyle record with a 4:51.99, beating the previous time by an incredible 5.21 seconds.

“With where we are with training right now, I really didn’t have any expectations going into the meet and was just trying to focus on going out hard and push myself to get up and race,” said Ojha.

Bentley set the 50 Yard Freestyle record with a 22.50, beating the previous time by 0.28 seconds.

“Some of the records were held by bigger teams like Stevenson and Mundelein, so putting some of our names up there really shows the work we’ve put in this season,” said Bentley.

Zobkiv set the 100 Yard Breaststroke record with a 1:02.15, beating the previous time by 1.17 seconds.

On Feb. 12, the Scout’s will host the North Suburban Conference JV and Varsity meet.

“Conference is always a fun meet. The 400 free relays at the end get super loud and a like a grand finale to the whole meet,” said Bentley.
