Whether it’s on the football field, the baseball diamond, or the basketball court, senior Cade Nowik stands out for his hard work and athleticism. Cade is also regarded as a stand out student, teammate, and friend.

“Cade has always been someone I can trust. If I need something, I know he will help.” Mikey Gray, baseball teammate of Nowik, said.

His teammates value his dedication and character.

“I’ve never had a teammate who works harder than Cade in practice or games,” said senior Sam Gibson, a teammate on the basketball team. “He contributes competitiveness and a contagious will to win.”

Cade spends the majority of his free time at practice, preparing to get a victory for the Scouts. In addition to being a fundamental asset to the boys varsity football, baseball and basketball teams at the high school, he piles travel baseball onto his demanding schedule.

Being a three-sport athlete is a major part of Cade’s life. However, he recently tore his ACL during a football game.  Cade has taken an optimistic approach on his recovery.

“After he told me how horrible the first day of physical therapy was, I thought that I would only hear about how much he dreaded going again, but he told me that it’s like his new version of game day. This is what he was going to put all of his effort into so he can get better as fast as possible,” senior Taylor Cekay said.

His determination and enthusiastic game plan predicts a quick comeback to accompany his teammates again.

Cade’s spirit also compensates for his absence on the football field: “His leadership rubs off on the rest of the team. Even though he’s done for the season, he still shows up to practice and helps out, bringing a competitive side and challenging guys to do better even though he’s not playing. There’s not many like him,” said senior captain Leo Scheidler said.
