Are The Chicago Bulls Eastern Conference Finals Contenders?
September 14, 2021
After the 2020-2021 NBA season, the Chicago Bulls finished 31-41, failing again to make the playoffs.
But hopes are higher this season, after one of the biggest offseason free agency signings. The Bulls’ first sign-and-trade was sending Tomas Satoransky, Garrett Temple, and a 2022 second-round pick to the New Orleans Pelicans in return for guard Lonzo Ball.
The Bulls also signed shooting guard Alex Caruso, former member of the Los Angeles Lakers championship team. The Bulls already have Nikola Vucevic, who will help push the Bulls defense and rebounding. Finally, the Bulls signed Demar DeRozan, one of the biggest names in this offseason, in free agency.
After acquiring these talents, many Bulls fans believe that they have what it takes to make the Eastern Conference Finals. With a projected starting five of Ball, DeRozan, Zach LaVine, Patrick Williams, and Nikola Vucevic, the Bulls will be a promising team this NBA season.
If the Bulls are able to fit every player and work together to create offense and defense, the Bulls will be an Eastern Conference contender. With the new talent they have gotten, such as Lonzo Ball, who has tremendous IQ and playmaking skills to pass and create opportunities, the Bulls will be able to play well and even make the Eastern Conference finals.
Not everyone is convinced that the Bulls will be an Eastern Conference contender, however. There is concern about the new players fitting in. Especially in the starting five, there is no guarantee that the Bull’s have enough shooting offensively to make the Eastern Conference finals.
The Bulls are going to need a lot to go up against the Brooklyn Nets, who are stacked with offense and defense. With a projected starting five of Kyrie Irving, James Harden, Joe Harris, Kevin Durant and Blake Griffin, the Chicago Bulls are going to need to have excellent offense and defense if they want to make it to The Finals.
