Having Ms. Anderson for Healthy Lifestyles or Advanced Health seems to be a universal experience amongst female students. Ms. Anderson started these classes to help students focus on their overall wellness, not just working out. While discussing mental and physical health, she has an incredible ability to connect with her students and make this class a stress-free time of the day. 

Instead of a traditional attendance check at the start of each class, Ms. Anderson asks her students a new question each day to get to know them better and engage them.

 “Ms. Anderson has done such an amazing job making class feel like class. She’s able to make tasks fun, keep students engaged, and allow us to have a positive mindset. I look forward to class each day, and answering one of her out of the box attendance questions!” senior Elsa Goldsberry said.

Ms. Anderson has her students work on activities that expand far beyond the typical gym class curriculum. She covers everything from healthy relationships, balanced eating, exercise, executive function, and emotional health. This well-rounded health education is a direct reflection of how much she truly cares for her students.

“She is one of my most involved teachers; she is always talking to the students and checking up on us, and she always brings a positive energy to class even though we are virtual,” sophomore Nora Peters said.

With such a tough year of being virtual, Ms. Anderson has been a warm welcome to the oncoming school year for her students.

“Ms. Anderson always brightens my day. She is always so positive and cheerful, and you can tell she really cares about her students,” senior Katherine Graham said.
