In the town of Lake Forest lies a building that we as a community have seen gone through many changes. This building is a part of Westwood Square at the intersection of Woodland Road and Western Avenue. About 10 years ago, it was the heavily 90s decorated Burger King. With purple and turquoise colored booths, and a foldable crown given to you on your way out, there was nothing but a great experience to be had at the Burger King that once occupied this space. Sadly, Burger King closed the doors to it’s Lake Forest location in 2012.

 Two years later, Westwood Bistro was opened. This restaurant gave this space a total makeover. Bringing in modern decorations, outdoor seating, and plenty more that helped bring the building to life. It was a success within the community but lasted for only three years until it closed in 2017. For a while after the space was vacant. It definitely felt like there was something missing when passing by that location, since it held so much potential.

In September of 2019, at the most opportune moment, Kuro Bistro opened its doors. Ever since then it has been one of the best additions to the community. Serving authentic Asian cuisine, Kuro Bistro is by far one of the best restaurants in town, and checks all the boxes for a great dining experience. Even through such hard times, Kuro Bistro has continued to shine, and provide nothing but the best for their customers. 

“We’ve been very lucky to have many generous and nice people placing a lot of carry out orders from us,” said P.V., host extraordinaire 

at Kuro Bistro. “This has definitely helped keep us going through these hard times.”

Inside this prime location, you’re greeted right away into a great atmosphere. Filled with cozy booths, tables, a sushi bar, and a regular bar to sit at, you feel more than welcome walking into the doors of the restaurant. On top of this, Kuro Bistro’s menu is full of nothing but good choices. From the most popular items like the Crazy Salmon Roll, New York Strip, Fire Tuna Roll, Filet Mignon and the Kyuuri Roll, you really can’t go wrong with any option. Not only is the food there high quality, but so is the service.

“Everyone has been so nice to us, we feel like we owe something back to the community,” said P.V. “We try to push to make sure our service and food quality stays at the top.”

And top quality their food and service is. A dining experience at Kuro Bistro is one that never fails, and will continue to be one of the best in Lake Forest. 

With indoor seating now in place this restaurant is really the place to be when it comes dinner and lunch time. Not to mention, when the weather gets better Kuro Bistros patio with seating, and a fire pit will open to make your time there even better.
