Lake Forest Continues Win Streak With Win Over Libertyville
February 22, 2021
On Saturday, the Scouts were able to score at will against their longtime rival, the Libertyville Wildcats. The Scouts outscored the Wildcats 64-49, capturing their fifth win this season.
The game appeared to be over in the first few minutes. The Wildcats defense was not enough to stop the red-hot Scouts offense. The Scouts finished the first quarter leading 28-5.
The Scouts hit four three in the first quarter to give them a quick headstart and ultimately lead them to the win.
Senior Walt Mattingly led the Scouts in scoring once again with 14 points. Senor Jack Malloy and Sophmore Asa Thomas both complemented Mattingly each with 13 ponts.
The Scouts outplayed the Wildcats in every category except steals. This included four blocks, 17 team assists, shooting 100% from the free-throw line, and shooting 45% from three.
The Scouts hope the momentum continues into tonight’s game against Lake Forest Academy. As of now, the Caxy’s are 1-3, having lost to both Stevenson and Libertyville, who the Scouts have beaten. The game starts at 6 pm tonight.
