Gurnee, IL — Last night, Lake Forest traveled to Woodlawn Middle School to face the Stevenson Patriots in their first Conference game of the season.

Coming off a high-scoring affair with Mundelein, the Scout’s defense led them to victory, with a score of 48-42.

The Scouts were in control the entire game. Junior Cade Nowik and senior Jack Malloy led the team in scoring each with 12. Sophomore Asa Thomas had 11 points, including three three-pointers.

Leo Scheidler, a junior guard, led the team defensively with ten rebounds and two steals. Nowik also had three steals.

“I think it is always great to win early in the season,” said Nowik. “It boosts confidence but we can never be satisfied. We have to move on to the next game. We only get one shot at each team in our conference and we have to make it count.”

Being in his third varsity season, Nowik knows what it takes to win and will do anything to do so.

Senior guard Evan Ambrose led in scoring for the Patriots but struggled with turning the ball over. Not only that, Stevenson shot a very underwhelming 40% from the free-throw line.

The Scouts will travel to Zion-Benton to play the Zee Bees Saturday.
