Felicity Whidden, the jeweler

In the last year, sophomore Felicity Whidden has spent her time making beautiful and trendy jewelry pieces. She created her Instagram, @felicitymakesjewelry, in the first full month of quarantine, and now has more than 3,400 Instagram followers.

With more than 100 different selections to choose from, she offers affordable, high quality, and unique handmade pieces. Her assortments include colorful chokers, dainty earrings, matching sets, and customizable necklaces. Many people, from LFHS and from across the country, have been tagging her account and giving her shoutouts by showing off their purchases.

She launched her own website, felicitymakesjewelry.com, which makes it easier to purchase her jewelry online. Her packaging is also something to look forward to when purchasing from her; it is not your average brown box. She takes the time to make sure her shipping methods are appealing to the eye by using patterned packaging with a personalized thank you note, making it much more exciting when you receive her products.

Felicity gets most of her inspiration from Pinterest and brands such as Brandy Melville, and Urban Outfitters. Her snake earrings and necklace were also inspired by Gucci.

“I know my friends get annoyed when I talk about it too much, but, it’s like my baby, I made it. I’m proud of it because it’s more of something I can do for fun, it doesn’t feel like a job,” said Whidden. 

 Felicity acknowledges that growth takes time, but she has several ambitions. She hopes to gain more follows, ship out more orders, and learn more about how to have more recognition on social media.

At the rate she is going, those goals are within reach.
