When it comes to country music, you either love it or hate it. I am a very big country fan and have been waiting for Morgan Wallen’s new double album ‘Dangerous’ for a while now.

After following him on social media, listening to his singles and past albums, I had very high hopes for this album. When the full album was released on January 8th, it exceeded expectations.

‘Dangerous’ the album has blown up specifically because all listeners can resonate with the music. Wallen claims to have been working on this album for two years and this album essentially tells the story of his life. Through his 30 songs, he sings about love, heartbreak, partying, his love for southern culture, and just life itself- all things that many people are easily able to relate to.

‘Dangerous’ was only released on January 8th and it is already the top country album in 62 countries, as well as the top overall album in the US, Canada, and Australia. ‘Dangerous’ broke the record for the most pre-sold country album, which was previously held by Luke Combs. After its release, it broke global records on both Apple Music and Spotify for being the most-streamed country album in the first day and first week.

Wallen has a very unique style of country music, with some of it being more pop country and others have a touch of R&B. Even the country haters have been raving about this album.

While it is hard to pick a favorite, I would have to say my top five are Sand in my Boots, Wasted on You, Cover Me Up, 865, and Only Thing That’s Gone which features Chris Stapleton.

With country music being a smaller genre, it can be extremely hard at times to grow your fanbase and hit the charts, but Wallen was able to make it happen. There had been many rumors about him releasing an album for a while now, but the double album was a surprise.

After being charged with public intoxication back in May and another drinking incident in November that resulted in him being uninvited to perform on SNL, Wallen’s career was put at risk. Fortunately, many fans were able to look past his mistakes and appreciate Wallen for his talents. He issued a public apology on social media and continued to promote his upcoming album.

Wallen’s success wasn’t always a straight shot to the top of the charts. He hadn’t released a full album since ‘If You Know Me’ in 2018. Before that, Wallen had only released a few singles and his first album ‘Stand Alone’ in 2015.

Stand Alone was released not long after his season on The Voice, something that many fans aren’t aware of. While The Voice is very popular and features many talented artists, Wallen is one of the very few that have become extremely successful through the show.
After this recent success, Wallen’s fans are already anticipating more songs and hopefully another album soon.
