Anne Cook

Anne Cook

Though she has an identical twin, senior Anne Cook can still set herself apart from others. Whether it’s vlogging her entire school day, or just being her extroverted, lively, hilarious self, Cook’s spirit is simply unmatched.

“Anne lights up the room with her personality and laughter. Seriously, no matter what mood I am in, she somehow finds a way to make me laugh until my stomach hurts,” senior Yana Savitsky said. “Her bubbly personality is just infectious to be around, and she brings a special energy into all of the adventures we share.”

One of the adventures that Savitsky and Cook share is being co-founders of the Life Focus Club at LFHS. The casual club is dedicated to creating a safe mental and social space for people. Cook works to destigmatize mental health and was especially active this past September (National Suicide Prevention Month).

Cook is the epitome of an involved student. In addition to the Life Focus Club, she participates in JV soccer, Latin club, and the environmental club.

Cook is also an avid member of the varsity cross country team. She went from avoiding JV cross country meets last year to being a varsity captain this season. Cook continues to prove herself to be one of the top varsity runners, with a personal best of 20:52 for 3 miles.

Her improvement, dedication, and leadership are not only noticed by her fellow teammates, but by her coaches as well.

“Anne has always been an important part of our team, but this year we all saw an incredible shift in her,” said JV Coach Marni Levinson. “Anne moved seamlessly into the varsity group, and she has been getting faster, going for long runs, and connecting with everyone on the team.

“Anne is a kind and warm person, so being a leader is easy for her, but I would say that her leadership has come from showing our team what hard work and a love for running will do.”
