Mr. Simmons

Mr. Simmons

The ability to use real world experience in the classroom is one trait of an excellent teacher.

Mr. Simmons uses his experience on the stock exchange to teach a detailed, challenging, and engaging class. He fills his class with valuable real life examples to ultimately help his students understand the complicated subject that is economics.

Mr. Simmons’ class period is filled with energy, which makes a challenging subject so much more interesting. That energy is especially helpful during E-learning when it’s especially hard to stay focused.

“He’s very upbeat and makes online learning a genuinely enjoyable experience,” says senior Zach Porter “I love how he makes such an important class so engaging.”

Mr. Simmons and fellow Econ teacher Mr. Clegg put so much time and hard work into shaping the course. Each unit comes with a theme, which could range from food to video games to TV shows. It’s truly great when your Cross + Income Elasticity homework is Minecraft themed. Every class is structured around a well-organized PowerPoint with themes, great visuals, and detailed notes. Taking notes has never been more fun and inviting.

He really does care about his job; you can tell he legitimately enjoys teaching economics. He loves to crack jokes, and he is always smiling and laughing; you can tell he’s having a good time.

Senior Alex Park describes Mr. Simmons as  “really dedicated to teaching and helping (students) understand economics. You can really tell he cares about his job.”
