Joey Nassar

Joey Nassar

With respects to well-rounded students, junior Joey Nassar might be as well-rounded as they come. Since freshman year, Nassar has found a way to be involved in as much as he can at LFHS – initiating a conversation with whoever he comes across, and influencing his peers with his humorous and sociable nature.

However, what truly makes Joey a versatile student is the way in which he is always up for a challenge, and loves to have a good time, at the same time.

When in front of all of your peers, putting yourself out there can be extremely intimidating. For Joey, however, the act comes easy, and is incredibly rewarding. Avid member of both the Debate Team and Student Council, Joey puts himself out there on the daily.

Last year, he decided to run for Sophomore Class President, and was elected to the position by his classmates where he led his class council through a successful year, filled with fundraising, charity work, and event planning. When election season came around this year, guess who’s name was on the ballot? And guess who secured the Junior Class President Position? Joey did.

When Overall Student Body President Will Elliott is asked about Joey’s involvement and progression in Student Council, there are only positive things to be said: “He has been a committed class leader for his entire high school career and I’m excited to see what he can accomplish this year!”

Not surprisingly, clubs aren’t the only place where Joey is up for the challenge: he chooses to take rigorous courses every year. Joey signed up AP Chemistry his sophomore year, and found himself in a class filled with a majority of upperclassmen, unlike himself. However, this was not daunting for him. He quickly made close relationships with those around him, positively influencing their class experience as well, even if it meant being a little clumsy along the way.

“Whether it be spilling chemicals on the lab table or breaking a beaker or test tube every lab, he never failed to make chem interesting and a good time,” says senior Cate Lazarus. “He’s very outgoing and funny and easy to work with!”

However, that isn’t to say that Joey doesn’t know how to have fun. Outside of the school building, you will find Joey as a member of the JV soccer team, or spending time with his friends whenever he has the chance. Joey’s close friends appreciate Joey for the same reason anyone he comes into contact does: his vibrant, yet easy-going nature.

“Whether it’s in the PlayStation party, on the soccer field, the golf course, or in the classroom, Joey is always a great friend and person to be around,” said junior Johnny Theodore, a close friend to Joey. “His personality is consistently enjoyable and he is a truly great friend and person.”
