Scouts Lose On Miracle Shot By Buchert; Lose Summerville, Witte To Injuries
This One Is Going To Sting For A While…

LIBERTYVILLE — This one is going to hurt for a while.
This one is going to hurt a lot, literally and figuratively.
In a game that was determining the top spot in the North Suburban Conference and potentially a higher ranking in the state rankings, the Scouts lost on a miracle shot at the buzzer by Margaret Buchert, falling to the rival Wildcats, 42-39, to drop to second place in the North Suburban Conference.
“Overall, [Libertyville] did a great job shutting us down on offense,” said head coach Kyle Wilhelm, “This game taught us that every possession matters and looking back we needed to make a few more plays in that ballgame that could’ve helped us win that game.”
The Scouts committed 12 turnovers in the ballgame and they also lost two starters early in the ballgame in Olivia Witte in the early-going to a knee and Finola Summerville late in the fourth due to an ankle.
“Losing Olivia early hurt us,” said Wilhelm, “Without Molly [Fisher] as well stung too, but give credit to Bella [Ranallo] for stepping up and making some big plays.”
Overall, this was a ballgame that the Scouts just have to move on from. While this game hurts now, this isn’t going to matter come playoff time. Remember, last season the Scouts lost the conference by one game to Libertyville but ultimately went on to win the Sectional semi-final game over them, so if history repeats itself, this should end up not being all bad for the Scouts.
Lake Forest will wrap-up their four-game road trip on Saturday afternoon against the Hersey Huskies. The Scouts will look to start up another winning streak if they can beat the Huskies. They’ll be back home next Tuesday against GBS after Saturday’s game.
