Everything You Need To Know About Prom 2019
May 10, 2019
Here are the top things to know about this year’s prom on Saturday!
It’s at a brand new venue.
This year, Prom will take place in Wheeling, IL at The Westin Chicago North. The venue is about a 30 minute drive from LFHS.
The dreaded “mob scene” to get on the early bus won’t be happening.
In previous years, students may remember the “mob” of students pushing their way to the front of the check-in line in order to leave the venue at the end of the night to catch one of the “early” buses.
This year, however, there will be no early or late bus, as all of the buses will leave at the same time — at the end of the dance at 11pm. Rather than checking out at the venue, students will be checking out and heading home on the same bus they arrived on.
There will be a variety of late night snacks nearing the end of the dance.
In addition to dinner, which includes a chicken, beef, and vegan option, students will be able to munch on a variety of delicious snacks later in the night. Some of these snacks include sliders, mozzarella sticks, and small cups of vegan tomato soup with miniature grilled cheeses for dipping.
The band is back.
One of LFHS’ prom traditions is to have a live band. The Gold Coast Orchestra, which has been performing for LFHS’ prom for years, will be back again this year, with music hand-chosen by the Student Council Junior Class Cabinet. During the dance, the band will take two breaks, in which a playlist (also chosen by the junior cabinet), will be played during this time.
The theme is “Fly Me to the Moon.”
The Student Council Junior Class Cabinet voted on this year’s theme, while also choosing the menu and music. All of the artwork scene for the event is also student designed. This year’s design was created by senior, Anna Aquino.
The 2019 Prom Court has been announced!
Twelve students were chosen and voted on to represent the junior class.
Haley Banta, Lino Caputo, Lexie Conley, Christine Jie, Litsa Kapsalis, Ethan Lane, Josh Lane, Lillie Michael, Casey Murray, Lucas Redding, AJ Shaw, and Sam Starr.
During the dance, two students will be chosen as “prom royalty.”
PROM SCHEDULE:
Students should begin arriving to school for the red carpet from 5-5:30 p.m., with the red carpet starting promptly at 5:30 p.m. Parking will be available to students in the faculty parking lot in the back of the school.
The buses plan to leave for The Westin at 6:30 p.m. and will arrive around 7 p.m., in which upon arrival, dinner will then be served. The dance will end at 11pm, when students will begin to board their bus and arrive back at the high school around 11:30 p.m.
Have a great Prom 2019!
