Rylie Mills: The Newest Member of the Fighting Irish

Rylie Mills, who started to receive college offers his sophomore year, finally made his collegiate decision on the night of Monday May 6th, 2019, letting the country know he will be heading to South Bend, Indiana, to join the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, a team that is fresh off of a College Football Playoff Appearance and a 12-1 season.

Rylie’s final three schools heading into commitment day were, as many call it THE Ohio State University, the University of Wisconsin, and the University of Notre Dame. Notre Dame seemed to stick out more than the rest of schools as the Irish beat out schools such as LSU, Michigan, and even Alabama. “Notre Dame’s combination of high academics and the ability to compete at the highest level was a big draw for me” Mills told Sports Illustrated. “I also felt like I could relate to the players and meshed with them.”

Rylie Mills is not the first player to go to Notre Dame after concluding his career at LFHS as the well-known QB Tommy Reese also committed to play quarterback there. Mills, listed as the number 2 player in the state of Illinois and 122nd in the country according to 247Sports, was at the top of the Notre Dame recruiting board and was made a priority from the beginning. Now they got their man. With multiple visits to the campus and Rylie speaking very highly of the University, this was surely a great choice.

There will be a lot of new Notre Dame Fighting Irish fans across the Lake Forest and Lake Bluff community. Now all that is left to do is go out and play some Scout football in 2019. Congratulations, Rylie, from everyone at Lake Forest High School. Go Scouts, and Go Irish!
