Top 5 90’s Songs To Play in Your Car

Luca Pasinato

Unlike the pop dance that dominated the 80’s, the 90’s are much harder to pin down. With oddball electro, grunge, metal and rap, there are too many styles to cover.

So how about we turn the clock back and play some of the songs from this list that I bet most of our parents listened in college to “turn up in the club.”

1.) Gettin’ Jiggy Wit It- Will Smith

Coming in at number one has to be “Gettin’ Jiggy Wit It,” released in 1997. Will Smith may be known for his great acting in Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, but he spit some major bars in this upbeat and dancing tune.

2.) California Love- 2Pac

With the West Coast rap making a name for itself in the 90’s, 2Pac was one of the most influential rappers of all time. California Love, released in 1995, helped him changed rap forever.

3.) Give It Away- Red Hot Chili Peppers

Moving towards a little more rock, the Red Hot Chili Peppers released Give it Away in 1991 on their Blood Sugar Sex Magik album. Being from the West Coast, they had a much more bass heavy kind of alternative rock the changed the game.

4.) Wonderwall- Oasis

Going across the pond on this one. Oasis was an influential band in the rock alternative genre that dominated the 90’s. Released in 1995, Wonderwall made Oasis mega famous. Even though this song has a much more relaxed tone, it’s still a song that anyone can sing along to.

5.) Santeria- Sublime

Last but not least Sublime brought a reggae, rock blend that few others could match. Santeria, released in 1996, has a rap feel but still goes back to its reggae roots of smooth guitar.
